Preliminary Evaluation Questions

Evaluating questions

  1. Did you plan your magazine?

Before I started creating my prelim magazine, I did not have any specific plan on what I was going to create. However I did know that I wanted to base it around A – levels and results. This did not make the task easy for me because I didn’t know where to start. I could have planned my magazine at a better standard, deciding what pictures to use, what I wanted to include as well as things like font and colour scheme.

  1. What technology did you use to complete the task?

To complete my task I sued page plus x6. I found this software confusing to use at the start as I did not know how to use it. Once I started playing round with it I found it got a lot easier. The tools that are available allowed me to create the magazine at a realistic standard because they are of a top quality. At first I wanted to try and use as many tools as possible so I could see what tools would fit my design correctly. I then went on to choosing specific ones that would work well with my plan.

  1. Did you encounter any difficulties?

Whilst creating my magazine, I found it very difficult to figure out how to layout my magazine and using the tools at the same time. I didn’t want my layout to look messy so figuring out how to put columns in was very difficult for me. To solve this problem I asked the teacher how to do it and me then realised it wasn’t as hard as I thought. I also found creating the text a difficulty. I started off by putting each different section of writing in a separate text box. This took time so then I figured out that you can put all of it in one text box. Apart from these difficulties I found everything else quite easy.

  1. How successful was your magazine?

Overall I think that my magazine was quite successful. I think the layout looks professional because the colours are sophisticated because they aren’t over the top. I also think the picture matches in with the colour scheme and is of a good quality. To improve my magazine, I would make the front cover less busy because there is a lot of writing on it. I would also add more to my content page because it is quite plain.

  1. What have you learnt from completing this task?

From completing this task I have learnt that creating a magazine takes not only time but also effort. You cannot rush it because each individual element of the magazine needs time to complete. When I complete my coursework in the future, I will ensure that I don’t rush, I take my time and make sure I have completed every individual task.
