Product Placement
Product placement is a practice in which manufacturers of
goods or providers of a service gain exposure for their products by paying for
them to be featured in films and television programmes.
Distributing magazines has changed a lot of the years due to
the improvement of technology. The main way to distribute you magazines is to
sell them in multiple stores and shops such as supermarkets like Sainsbury’s or
sometimes off licenses. This is a common way to sell them because of stores and
supermarkets being visited every day, there is a large chance of their magazine
being bought.
Magazines can also be sold on ITunes, which is a very popular
way because they are cheap and the ITunes app is already on the Apple products.
An example of a popular magazine that is sold on ITunes is ‘Q’ Magazine. Not
only this, but ‘Q’ also have their own app, like many magazine publishers,
which allows users to be updated regularly on the new release of their
magazine. I think that doing this is very useful because it allows easier
access to the download of the magazine and can give the publisher more consumers.
For my magazine, I have decided that I will be selling my
magazine both in stores and on technology. I believe this is necessary as it
gives me a maximum number consumer that I can have. I will gravitate towards
mostly allowing consumers to download my magazine on recent technology. This is
because it is the most popular way to sell magazines, as more and more people
have phones. However I will still sell magazines in shops because technology is
not for everyone and I still believe widening my market is important. I will
sell my magazine in Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s as they are very popular
supermarkets. I will also sell them in off licenses and post offices in towns
like Crowthorne and Sandhurst.
Could you go into more depth on how you will use your download and what you have seen other like minded products do? How much will it cost? Is there a subscription? Does it download automatically etc. Moreover are there any other music based stores where you think your you might sell your product?
